Police Activity - Crime Statistics
Under the Codiac Regional Police Service Agreement, the Codiac Regional RCMP is responsible for preserving peace, protecting life and property, preventing crime, and enforcing the law—developing strategies tailored to local community needs in partnership with the Codiac Regional Policing Authority (CRPA) to deliver cost-effective, high-quality service. Under its accountability framework, the RCMP issues quarterly and annual reports tracking Key Performance Indicators and Annual Performance Plan targets, supporting planning and budgeting, helping management monitor unit-level progress on policing priorities, and informing citizens about public safety challenges and the police response. The report has two components: the Annual Performance Plan (APP), setting fiscal-year objectives and measurement goals (April 1–March 31), and Volume Measurements, tracking policing services and crime trends over the calendar year (January 1–December 31) using population-based rates (per 1,000 or 100,000) for cross-city comparison. Note that comparisons with other municipalities can be affected by various factors and should be interpreted with caution.

Home safety
How to reduce the risk of break-ins and protect your property.
- Lock doors and windows, even when you step out briefly.
- Keep exterior lighting working and maintain visibility from the street.
- Secure valuables — record serial numbers, photograph high-value items, use a safe.
- When away: hold your mail, use timed lighting, tell a trusted neighbour.

Victim Services
The Codiac Regional RCMP Victim Services Unit (VSU) provides the following resources to individuals who have been the victim of a crime; emotional support, general information of the police occurrence process, outcomes of court proceedings and referrals to various community partners dependent of circumstance and required needs of the client.
